Trionica

The band Trionica consists of three top musicians. Their paths crossed for the first time in August last year, under the auspices of the Godalkanja production in Kamnik, whose idea leader is violinist and pedagogue Bojan Cvetrežnik.

Their repertoire is based on the musical tradition of some countries in Southeast Europe (Romania, Bulgaria…) and the Balkan Peninsula (Serbia), which Trionica combines with the influences of jazz and classical music. An analog sound synthesizer intervenes between the violin and the double bass as an imitator of cymbals and accordions. All of this fosters a more modern, somewhat unconventional sound. The trio thus combines different musical styles, the result of which could be called the balkan-fusion schvas apparatus.

About the musicians

Jean-Christophe Gairard

Jean-Christophe Gairard. Halfway between his native France and Romania, his adopted musical home, Jean-Christophe Gairard founded the project Trioniča in August 2021 in Slovenia, alongside double bassist Jošt Lampret and keyboardist Nejc Škofic. While the repertoire of this young trio is rooted in the traditional music of the Balkans, their need for spontaneity and collaborative creation takes them into vast improvised spaces. Indeed, traditional music is alive and spans the ages thanks to the diversity and passion of its performers.

Jošt Lampret

Jošt Lampret. He is one of the most versatile double bass players in our area. He is the winner of numerous domestic and international competitions in the category of classical double bass, as a soloist he performed with the Slovenian Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, orchestra of RTV Slovenia and played in one of the most prestigious youth orchestras in the world, Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester. He is the leader of the band P’Jays, plays in the groups Teo Collori & Momento Cigano, Trionica, Fiddle Gang and regularly collaborates with renowned domestic and foreign musicians in various ensembles from classical, jazz and ethno music.

Nejc Škofic

Nejc Škofic. He is a musician with an extensive repertoire who is active in various genres. Educated at the University of Klagenfurt, where he completed his studies in jazz piano and pedagogy, his rich experience is represented by numerous collaborations with various musicians (Janez Bončina Benč, Boštjan Gombač, Femi Temowo, Bojan Cvetrežnik, Nuška Drašček, Big band RTV Slovenia, Klemen Slakonja…). In addition to his trio, he also creates in the band Wckd Nation, whose quality and promise were confirmed last year by the professional music award Golden Flute.
